šŸ”Ž Software Engineers & ADHD

ā€œI was on the beach and got hit by a massive wave of cake. It was a tiramisu nami.ā€
🤣 source: Here’s a Joke

Today I bring to you an event, code standards, and ADHD+devs.

  1. Event: Copilot + ChatGPT

šŸ“… This is an online meetup where you can learn how to use the power of ChatGPT in your code.

Join Doug Finke to ChatGPT in different environments! Like, Copilot, see how to summon GPT in Polyglot Interactive notebooks. Plus, ChatGPT at your fingertips in the console and your scripts using PowerShell AI integration.

  1. Code Conventions

šŸ“ Conventions can serve as a type of contract between team members that allows solving problems in a predictable and designed way.

I’m fan of stablishing and adhering to coding conventions. I preach it to students and I follow them in my job.

It just makes things easier for everyone involved. Remember that the code you write today can be maintained by someone else tomorrow.

This article talks about the importance of standards in Software Development. Any dev should keep this in mind.

  1. Software Engineers & ADHD

šŸ”Ž ADHD stand for Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder. My daughter has ADHD, so I have first-hand experience with someone that has a hard time to focus (isn’t it all of us?).

This article from Stack Overflow is based on a conversation with two software engineers that were diagnosed with ADHD. It tries to break the stigma around the topic. The developers have chosen to remain anonymous.

My personal update:

  • šŸ‘µ My brother and I have moved our mom to the countryside. She is adjusting very well. I’m super glad to see her improving the quality of her life with more people around.

  • āš ļø The company I work for is going through though times. Cuts are coming. It may impact me. We shall see.

  • šŸ–ļø I was walking yesterday evening at the beach below. This is my home city (Fortaleza, Brazil) - I didn’t take the picture.

ā€œA beach walk is for stretching your legs and your mind, for looking at life with newfound eyes.ā€ ― Sandy Gingras

Cheers, hasta la vista and bye!
