Today I’m bringing you what a CTO does, coding in times of war, and unusual ways to contribute to open source.

1. What does a CTO do?

👨‍💼 You might just be starting your tech career, but how about you have a quick look at a role that you can play in the future?

First of all, CTO means “Chief Technology Officer”. This is the person that reports to the CEO or President of the company regarding all technical aspects of the business. Go to Wikipedia for a more formal definition.

I work with a great CTO and I admire what he does. This video will show a day in the life of a CTO. Would it be something that you would enjoy doing?

1. How does it feel to code in a war zone? Stories from Ukraine

🏳️ I cannot begin to imagine how does it feel like to work in a war zone. Work already has a lot of pressure but when you add yours and your family’s physical safety to the mix, it must bring so much more weight to one’s shoulders.

1. Open source contribution is more than coding

📹 I’m a big fan of open source. This is not the first nor the last open source related link that I share. This article spoke to me deeply because it talks about the different ways you can contribute to open source, which may not necessarily be as a coder.

Although I am a code, but my story with open source is not as a coder, but as a content creator. Through my site DNNHero.com and my YouTube Channel I have created over 600 videos about an open source project called DNN.

I am no longer an active member of the DNN community, but the project is still going strong.

One day I will tell you the full story about DNN and me, as it was a significant part of my life. For now, I will leave you with this article and challenge you to think of ways beyond coding that you can contribute to open source as well.

My personal update:

• ⭐ Azure Certification: I will be taking an Azure course Friday Dec 9. It is a 4 hours intro course that will help to get ready for the AZ-900 Microsoft Azure Fundamentals Certification.
  My opinion on certifications: I think they are good instruments to solidify your knowledge on a particular technology. It will most likely expose you to more aspects of such technology that you may not see during your regular day to day interactions with that tech. I will share an article in the future about certifications.

• 📕 How To Write Non-Fiction: As I’m pursuing a book writing, I’m enjoying reading a book about writing books. Very well organized and detailed.

• 🧚🏻 Story telling: Part of my writing is telling stories of professionals. But I didn’t want to tell boring stories, so I started looking into how to tell engaging stories. As I researched, I came across an organization in Toronto that is all about story telling. I’m thinking of taking one of their courses on story telling.
